Why Early Access?
Gladius et Pilum is built by one person. Players who join early watch the game grow, and their feedback helps decide what comes next and how the rules are balanced.
What is playable today, and what is missing?
- Playable: managing provinces, raising and upgrading buildings, the economy with taxes, production, food, population and upkeep, raising troops and ships, planning orders and having each round settled.
- In progress: among others the battles on land and at sea, spies and further parts of the rulebook, up to the full scope of the first season.
How long will the game stay in Early Access?
Until version 1.0. There is no date for it yet; it will be announced in good time.
What does the game cost?

Prices include VAT. You pay once; there is no subscription. If you buy during Early Access, you pay nothing more at version 1.0. The Early Access price holds until version 1.0 and does not rise before then.
What does a purchase include?
- Taking part in every future game, in every world and season, at no further cost.
- You play at most three games at the same time. The limit cannot be raised for money.
- Nothing can be bought inside a world. No money buys an advantage in the game.
What can I do without buying?
With a free account you can watch running games and try the game. What the trial round includes is still being decided.
Can I buy it yet?
Not yet. Once buying opens, this page will say so. Until then it describes the planned framework.
